Mid-Shore Pro Bono provides legal assistance to individuals in throughout the Eastern Shore. If you have a legal problem that involves any of the following. Mid-Shore Pro Bono can help you find legal assistance.

Mid-Shore Pro Bono Inc., does not handle criminal cases, traffic cases or appeals.  If you would like to settle your case OUTSIDE of court, please ask about our COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE Project.

Steps to Apply: 

  • Please call during intake hours only: Monday through Friday 11 am - 4:30 pm. 410-690-8128
  • You will be screened for eligibility based on your income and type of legal problem. We do not provide legal advice over the phone.
  • We will mail you an application. Once we receive your completed application, $25.00 non-refundable application fee (cash or money order ONLY) and proof of income we will review your case for eligibility and if determined eligible, we will start looking for a volunteer lawyer.
  • Because we rely on the generosity of volunteers to accept a case when they are available, we cannot guarantee we will find a lawyer for every client.
  • If you have a trial or hearing scheduled, call us as soon as possible to increase the chance of us finding you a volunteer. Do not wait until just before your trial or hearing. We cannot handle emergency situations.

Family Law Pro Se (self-help) Clinics

Mid-Shore Pro Bono recommends that all applicants with Domestic issues to attend a Family Law Clinic as part of the intake process. The Family Law (pro se) Clinics offer free brief advice and counseling by an attorney.  Before we can proceed with your application, you should have an open case filed in the Circuit Court. Clients looking for an out of court settlement process should inquire about our Collaborative Practice project.

Community Conferencing Brochure

The Women’s Family Law Project provides additional support for female clients seeking legal assistance with family law disputes. The project has a multilayered approach to assist women at every stage of the legal process which includes mentoring and financial assistance.

The Consumer Projection Project provides pro bono legal services to consumers with credit card debt and/or victims of debt buyer fraud through brief advice clinics and/or direct representation from volunteer attorneys.  If you have been served, you can get learn more about your case by visiting the website of the Holland Law Firm.

The Debtor's Assistance Project provides debtors with an opportunity to meet with a bankruptcy attorney for a cost-free half-hour consultation. Clinics are held monthly in Chestertown and Easton.  Clients seeking Bankruptcy Advice should contact our office to schedule an appointment, 410-690-8128.
