MSPB connects low-income individuals who are involved in difficult family matters with an attorney who can guide them through these legal processes and often provide representation in court.

Need to meet with an Attorney? Each county’s Circuit Court holds Family Law “Self-Help” Clinics where attendees can meet with an attorney for a short period of time to discuss their legal problems. The meetings are free and can be utilized over the course of your case.

DUE TO COVID EMERGENCY THESE CLINICS HAVE NEW HOURS/PROCEDURES LISTED BELOW

Caroline County (410-479-5735)

  • In person every Monday from 9-12
  • Clinic limited to 5 people total
  • Thursday evening clinics are not being held because the Library is still closed
  • Clients will be screened at front door or courthouse
  • Disinfectant supplied

Dorchester  County (410-228-1395)

  • All clinics through phone call until December
  • Screening will occur when in-person clinics resume
  • Clinic hours are Monday 12:00-3:30 and Wednesdays 9-12:30
  • Clerk’s office will give client phone number to call to speak to the volunteer
  • Schedule is posted on door of courthouse

Kent County (443-666-4327)

  • Clinics are remote on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-12:00.
  • Calls answered on a first come/first served basis, clients to leave message if phone is busy
  • Plan is to begin Tuesday clinics in person starting October 6, 2020
  • Will revisit after first of the year

Queen Anne’s County (410-758-1773)

  • Attorneys are working remotely
  • Clients come in person to courthouse and may access the attorney through the Self-Help Center or call Family Service Coordinator to be connected with attorney through Skype.
  • 2 person limit in Family Service office
  • The plan is to continue this procedure through the end of 2020
  • Mandatory masks, sheriff screens and takes temperature of client
  • All areas disinfected after each client
  • Monday-Friday 9-12:00

Talbot County

  • Telephone clinics only through December, please call 410-829-9876 to make appointment
  • Mondays from 9-12:00

Somerset County

  • In person Fridays from 9-12
  • Appointments scheduled on the half hour by calling 410-621-7582
  • The person seeking advice is the only one allowed in the building and is screened by security
  • Face masks and disinfectant supplied

Wicomico County (410-334-3110)

  • Clients are referred to Family Law Hotline only (800-845-8550)
  • No remote or in person clinics at this time

Worcester County (410-632-5168)

  • Telephone appointments only through at least October.
  • Mondays 9:30-3:30

Cecil County (410-996-1157)

  • Hybrid of remote and in person
  • Appointment only
  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in person with appt.
  • Friday remote only
  • 2 people allowed at one time for in person clinic
  • Zoom capability
  • Text reminders for appointments
